The Office’s Dwight To Get Spinoff TV Series, Reports Say

(Jan 26, 2012) NBC is reportedly planning a spinoff of
The Office
featuring
Rainn Wilson.
The actor plays the eccentric Dunder Mifflin staffer Dwight
Shrute and network bosses are said to be considering giving him
his own show, which would centre on Dwight’s beet farm and bed
and breakfast where he lives with his strange cousin Mose.
A source told Deadline: “[The Office executive producer
Paul Lieberstein] and Rainn have been joking for years about
Dwight’s life on the farm, his family and how ill-suited he is
to run a B&B.
“A while ago, it started to feel like a show to them. NBC
agreed, it’s been further developed to include multiple
generations, many cousins and neighbours ... At its base it will
be about a family farm struggling to survive and a family trying
to stay together.”
Dwight has become increasingly frustrated with his sales job in
recent episodes and failing to get the manager’s job when Steve
Carell’s character Michael Scott quit have led to him
considering his options.
Viewers saw him fly to Tallahassee recently to interview with
boss Robert California (James Spader) for a position there but
it is thought his future lies in his beet farm. |
